Attention Op Shoppers of WA – want to know Perth’s best op shops? Hannah (In the Dress Up Box) gives us a rundown of her favourites as well as what goodies you are likely to find in each!
Hey there, I’m Hannah from In The Dress Up Box!
I’m an op-shopping nut who loves rifling through racks at my favourite second-hand stores. Whether you want to put together a fabulous wardrobe or style up your home, op shops are the way. Don’t believe me? Just take a look into a few of these stores and see what you find!
To get you started, today I’m sharing my top five favourite Perth op shops. And of course, my favourite Perth Salvos Stores.
A perennial favourite of mine. If you are new to op-shopping then this is a great place to start! It’s big but not overwhelming. O’Connor Salvos is super organised. Vintage, brand new and designer clothing are separated making it easy to find a fab item! This great floral dress is just one of the myriad of things I’ve found there over the years.
Good for:
Accessories
Dresses
Shoes
Find Me: 354A South Street, O’Connor
This op shop is the closest one to my home so I find myself popping in weekly. It’s recent revamp means it now stocks a fantastic range of vintage clothing. My most exciting score from this store is my wedding dress! I tried on this beautiful 1950’s wedding gown on a whim a few days after getting engaged. I fell in love. It was a total fluke and exactly what I love about op shops, you just never know what you’ll find! While the dress set me back $50 it goes down in history as my favourite op shop purchase ever. As I haven’t got married yet there is no photo but here’s another gem I found there…
Good for:
Vintage
Jewellery Accessories
Find me: 59 Carrington Street, Palmyra
This Salvos is MASSIVE. I love it. It has a huge selection of clothing and accessories, as well as furniture and house hold items. Late last year when I moved into my new home, I managed to furnish and style the whole place almost only from op shops. And Salvos, Bibra Lake was a gold mine! My favourite find was my gorgeous solid Jarrah coffee table. In perfect condition for just $20!
Homewares
Art
Furniture
Linen / fabric
Find Me: 28B Port Kembla Drive, Bibra Lake
One of Perth’s best kept op shop secrets. It is tucked away in the basement of St Luke’s Church in Mosman Park. I’ve found SO many amazing things there over the years, most recently a Fendi cross body bag for $10! The store is small and only open 3 days a week (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) but it well worth a trip! After you’ve had a rummage you can stay for a cup of tea and slice of cake with the lovely volunteers that run the store. Op shopping AND cake?! Doesn’t get much better than that!
Good for:
Designer gear
High end high street labels
Find Me: 20 Monument Street, Mosman Park
I love this store for two reasons; it’s open on Sundays and it’s CHEAP! They have crazy sales and you can find some incredible things. I got this awesome rainbow dress for $1 in one of their sales! It’s one of the few Perth op shops that open on a Sunday, so it’s perfect for an afternoon shopping date. But beware, it isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s chock-a-block, disorganized and full of bargains. Before you dive into the madness, make sure you are mentally prepared.
Good for:
Sunday shopping
Home wares
Cheap clothing
Find Me: 181 High Street, Fremantle
So that’s it for me, hope this comes in handy for those is WA or anyone passing by Perth! Happy op shopping!!
