One of a kind stories

We gift you a stylish Thriftmas!

23/10/2020

Salvos Stores along with Eco-stylist Faye De Lanty and a team of talented fashion stylists and bloggers pooled their talents recently in a sustainable fashion show that brought together a collection of inspirational looks for the festive season and beyond, with outfits that not only looked good, but felt good too! In a world of fast fashion, it's inspiring to meet like minded people who see the value is sourcing sustainably and reusing and upcycling garments to create something truly unique (And Faye De Lanty is the master. Check out fashion hound tv).

In the show, our stylists focused on four key summer looks with all of the clothing and props sustainably sourced and upcycled from Salvos Stores. With looks for guys and girls, and real mix of styles to suit everyone's taste and shape, our stylists have proven how easy - and chic - it can be to pull together eclectic, cool looks with pre-loved labels and a bit of imagination. It may have been raining outside, but inside was full of colour and summer vibes!

Here's some of our favourite looks:

1. Summer Holiday
The first look was inspired by Summer holidays, of holiday travel to exotic places and long leisurely days catching up with friends and celebrating summer. LOVING: Alain in fresh pale blues mixed with vintage leather and straw hat and Q in textures and exotic colours mixed with jewels and tassels.

2. Beach Party
Whether you're just kicking back for the day in the surf, catching some rays, or dressing up to watch the sunset with friends, we have the perfect look for spending time by the water. LOVING: Michelle in her oriental inspired two piece over bathers and accessorised with lots of gold, Q is channeling movie star glamour with her flowing lace dress over her on piece and big vintage style hat, whilst Alain is mixing up a sporty, geek, party vibe.

3. Christmas Day your way:
Whether you're by the pool, having a formal lunch, or eating outside, in hot weather or cooler climates, layering is the way to go. LOVING: Meg in her shift dress and kimono with gorgeous teal heels looking relaxed and gorgeous, Charles all dressed up and ready for Christmas lunch, and Q looking glamorous in her floral short suit dressed up with heels, chunky beads and a glo-mesh clutch.

"I want the outfits to be fun, festive and fashion-forward! I love Christmas and want people to be inspired and realise how fun dressing up can be!". - Hannah Barry, stylist and Op shop lover -

4. NYE Party:
We all love a good party and NYE is definitely THE party night of the year and a great opportunity to go all out in the style department. LOVING: Michelle ready to party in gold sequin shorts, cute patterned top with back cut out, gold clutch and blue wedges, and Q in a gold bustier (dress tucked up to make a top!), long fitted silk skirt and gorgeous peep toe wedges to add a pop of colour.

Hannah Barry and Alain Pottier, who are both recent graduates from the RMIT styling course, did a brilliant job pulling all of the looks together. We are very grateful for all of their hard work and distance they covered searching for the prefect items!

We had a great day and we're grateful to everyone who braved the crazy Melbourne weather to join us. We hope everyone went home inspired and a little bit excited about dressing up for the festive season (I know we are!). We'd especially like to thank our talented team (check out their instagram accounts for more great fashion inspiration!) - who volunteered their time and talents on the day:
