“ When dealing with engines which have covered a considerable mileage and are reaching the stage when reboring and new pistons are needed, complete removal of the carbon from the piston crown may result in an increased quantity of oil passing into the combustion chambers, as the carbon forms an effective seal at the top of the piston. In these cases, therefore, it is a good plan before cleaning, to set each piston in turn approximately 1/4 in. (6.35 mm.) from the top of the stroke and to insert an old piston ring into the bore on top of the piston. In this way, although carbon is removed from the remainder of the piston crown, a ridge is maintained round the edge. “

The backing is falling apart.
The Pages are just starting to yellow.
Each page in this book has some kind of, and differing size and amount of spots and or “rust”, The first few and final pages are the worst affected.
No Water Damage.
No Burns.
No acute folding damage.
Pages are very straight for its age.
No worms.
No holes.
No torn pages that I could find.
Must have been stored very well.
